The BEST Compliment EVER!!!!

Okay. It was seriously very cool. There we were, Matt and I at Forest Grove Farmers Market last Wednesday, May 16th, 2012 and this young woman walks up to the table. She’s beaming with sheer joy and declares to us, “I have been waiting all winter for you guys. You have no idea how happy I am that you’re back!” It made Matt happy and I was somewhat aloof at that moment but it finally sunk in. They love us at the Farmers Markets – whether it’s Forest Grove or Hillsdale, or Lloyd or Oregon City (our new home now you know). And I’m glad they do. In fact, we will be having a customer appreciate day soon at the markets and eventually in our little bakery in downtown Oregon City. But first things first, I have to ask any of you who stop by to drop me a line or a comment if you would if you indeed love our products. It really does help make our day – and well – who doesn’t like to have a nice day?

The kitchen is almost 100% finished. Just have a few paint jobs and border lining things to do and some furniture to move and some grease and other stuff to wash off. Then we should be all done in our new kitchen so we can then concentrate on NEW PRODUCTS!!!!! I can’t wait to start making NEW things for you fine folks who’ve been patient with me to get you something new to try and hopefully be your next favorite product from BigFoot Bread Company.

Come on by the next Farmers Market and check out the latest creations thought up by Matt and produced by Greg. I’m confident you’ll find something to satisfy your hunger for great tasting, good for you, bread!

We look forward to seeing YOU at the next Farmers Market – and soon in our bakery!

Finally Some More News About the Bakery

I have to be honest with you. I take sleeping pills to get to sleep. I drag myself out of bed and wear the same clothes day after day. I barely eat lunch and I don’t drink enough water. I run around town and spend a lot of time and gas purchasing items I don’t even need or know how to use. I ask people to help (and this isn’t a pity party) but most if not all are busy and so now I’m looking to the Craigslist to hire someone to help me clean. I almost hired a plumber who did nothing but belittle me and when i told him it seemed he didn’t even want to try to do the work – he told me to screw off. It’s been a hell of a journey so far and I was about to give up today (except I signed a 3 year lease) until I got tremendous assistance from the ODA, a man across the street named Javier and the prayers of the few who are rooting for my success.

BigFoot Bread will be located at 616 Main Street in Downtown Oregon City. It’s a tiny place – a hole in the wall and in a week it will my new home away from home. We won’t be open to the general public until late June early July but until then if I can do it – we’ll still be at farmers markets until we get all the kinks worked out.

For the record, we are not hiring at the moment but we will be later on – so please keep the requests to a null until I put out the ad.

Well, strangely, I’m sleepy, so I need to grab it while my brain is slowing down. I’ll have more news and photos in time. Otherwise keep thinking happy thoughts for me and I’ll see you soon at the markets.

For starters, I…

For starters, I stand corrected – we are NOT in any grocery stores and at this point I speak for myself that we will NOT be in any grocery stores in the future any time. Frankly, I was really excited to be in one remaining specific store in Portland but that relationship has ended. Only I didn’t know it had ended until today when we attempted to deliver. No point in naming names we’ll just say “okay, more money in our pockets, I presume.”

It’s true for all your beloved Oregon City folks, we are signing a lease next week and moving to downtown Oregon City. It’s been a long time coming – branching out – finding our roots and moving into a space we can call home. I look forward to providing healthy, yummy bread to the folks who in a lot of ways helped us get our start way back in 2009. It’s our way of saying thank you for believing in me, the bread, and the company. I’m very grateful for the encouragement, love and trust many of you have placed in us to give you, your families and your community a healthy alternative to white bread. It’s been great and I look forward to many years and a lot of hard work to keep the name BigFoot Bread going for many to enjoy! We also look forward to making new friends in the downtown Oregon City area. I anticipate this move will change and grow our business immensely.

We will always be at the Oregon City Farmers Market (as long as Jackie can put up with me/us) and all of our new and current markets. But at some point I will try to get into the Milwaukie Farmers Market and possibly Canby. I’m digging the popularity we have found in Clackamas and want to make sure we’re breaking grown in as many demographics as possible.

Well, that’s the latest news. Our intended move in date is May 1st and I’m sticking to that plan. Here’s to a wonderful Spring and a super Summer.

We hope to see YOU at the Farmers Market this Season!

BigFoot Bread’s Photos are Now Cleared Up

I was slapped with a $875 fine by Getty Photos for accidentally using a photo which I found off the internet and used as a joke on my website. They expect me to pay this fine because they claim I used the photo for promotional purposes. Nope. I did not. I admit no wrong doings in the matter and stand by my own admission that I had no idea I was committing any wrong doings.

That being said all of the photos you find here on my website were either taken by me, Greg Arnold; Barbara Fleming (I hope I spelled that correctly) or Jackie Hammond-Williams of the Oregon City Farmers Market. There’s a few others but I’ll have to find their names to give proper credit.

So you see, we are Getty Image free now, about to pay a fine for something I did not know I had done and rightfully say we will boycott their images, their services from here forward. And we suggest you do the same. Oh and if any of you reading this have images on your blogs or websites and don’t know where they come from – remove them NOW! Getty will find you, they will persecute you and they will fine you ruthlessly.

Of course if you need the name of a savvy Copyright Attorney, send me a text or a note and I’ll forward on his information to you. He’s local, he’s kind-hearted and he knows his stuff.

Getty, get a life!

Update to where you can find Our Bread

I’ve decided not to refill the shelves at Food Front Hillsdale. We can’t afford to do Guaranteed Sales at grocery stores. It’s not practical for me since this is my only source of income and it’s actually costing us money. The full market season is upon us and I can’t wait to see if we get into all 6 of our planned markets.

For those of you faithful heading over to Sheridans Fruit Company on MLK Jr Blvd I thank you. We will remain loyal to keep their shelves fully stocked.

Hey everyone,

The shelves are once again restocked at our three grocer stores. We cannot guarantee they’ll stay stocked, but they are currently.

See you this next week at Lloyd Farmers Market on Tuesday from 10am – 2pm, Oregon City Farmers Market on Saturday from 10am – 2pm and Hillsdale on Sunday from 10am – 2pm.

Happy Day Light Savings!
